John Vito was born and raised in an Italian neighborhood in Brooklyn, New York. He was sixteen years old when he traveled to the northern part of the state and saw his first mountain. In many ways, it was a life-changing event.

"I've always been a type-A person. My mind and body seem to be constantly in motion. When I'm out in nature, especially when I'm out with my camera, all of that changes. My heart opens, my mind stops and my spirit soars. It is this feeling of peace, wonder and appreciation that I try to capture and convey with my photographs. It is my sincere wish that some of these images may touch a deeper place in you."
